About Me

I am a native of Louisiana, born and raised in the state my family helped settle.  One of my ancestors arrived in 1718, the year New Orleans was founded.  I live in the suburbs, but my heart will always belong to New Orleans.  I attended Louisiana State University and received my BA in English and MA in American history.  I specialize in Louisiana history, slavery, and Creole culture.  Currently I am a historical researcher working on telling the story of slaves on a Creole sugar plantation on the River Road.  I am passionate about historic homes, British television shows, the novels of Austen and Dickens, cemeteries, brass bands, and cooking.  I am also fascinated by the area above Natchez, Mississippi that Eudora Welty dubbed "River Country."  I believe that every family has a story that needs to be told.
